Job Title: Order Picker Operator Job Description

This role is based in a lumber warehouse in Mansfield and focuses on accurately selecting, preparing, and staging customer orders for shipment. You will operate forklifts to move lumber and large materials, band and wrap products for delivery, and help maintain a clean, organized warehouse while supporting inventory accuracy and excellent customer service.

• Pick and select customer orders using a sit-down forklift, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Load and unload materials, including lumber and large items, from trucks and storage areas.
• Move, stage, and transport materials throughout the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner.
• Band orders using a plastic banding machine and prepare products for shipment by wrapping and taping as needed.
• Handle materials ranging from small boxes to lumber boards up to 20 feet in length.
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse work area by removing trash, keeping products in correct locations, and sweeping floors.
• Work cooperatively and productively with supervisors and coworkers to complete daily workload and meet operational goals.
• Provide attentive, accurate, and high-quality service to customers by completing assigned work in a timely manner.
• Assist with resolving inventory variances and order accuracy issues, including track-and-trace activities.
• Use computers and related systems to support inventory processes and documentation.
• Operate standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, tape dispensers, and office equipment as needed.

• Experience operating sit-down forklifts for loading, unloading, staging, and transporting materials.
• Ability to safely handle lumber and large materials, including boards up to 20 feet long.
• Warehouse experience with palletizing, loading, unloading, and organizing materials.
• Basic computer literacy to assist with inventory management and order accuracy.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality in order picking and preparation.
• Ability to work productively in a team environment and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Capability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting, moving, and handling large or heavy materials.
• Comfort working in a dusty, noisy environment with fluctuating temperatures and occasional outdoor exposure.

• Preferred 1–2 years of experience moving lumber or large materials, ideally in environments such as home improvement or building supply stores.
• Experience working with both small boxed items and long boards or oversized materials.
• Familiarity with both stand-up and sit-down forklift operation.
• Previous experience assisting with inventory control, including tracking variances and verifying order accuracy.

The position is located in a lumber warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy, with forklifts and other heavy equipment operating throughout the facility. Temporary cracks and uneven surfaces may appear in the floor, and wet conditions may occur during rainy or snowy weather or after cleaning. Temperature fluctuations are common, and some outdoor exposure is expected during the workday. You will work with lumber and other materials that may have splinters or rough edges, and you will regularly use standard warehouse tools such as hand trucks, box cutters, and tape dispensers, as well as basic office equipment like computers and phones. The role follows a 6:00 a.m. start time and continues until finish, typically around 4:00–4:30 p.m., and involves operating both stand-up and sit-down forklifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mansfield, MA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Mansfield,MA.
